Description
Hi,
I wanted to report a performance issue after reinstalling Windows and switching to the latest version of AtlasOS. With the older version (v4.0.0), everything was running perfectly — no performance problems at all. However, after a clean reinstall using the latest version of AtlasOS, I’ve noticed a clear drop in responsiveness.
While average FPS in games hasn't changed much, I'm experiencing frequent micro-stutters every few seconds, especially in games like Counter-Strike 2. I first noticed the issue right after launching CS2 — a game that previously ran perfectly on the older version of AtlasOS.
I’ve already gone through all the recommended steps from your documentation and even asked the AI on your website (kapa.ai) for advice. That includes:
BIOS update
Chipset driver installation
Disabling power-saving features
Adjusting mitigation and CPU idle settings in the Atlas folder
Unfortunately, none of these steps have improved the situation.
My system specs:
Ryzen 7 7700X
RTX 4060 Ti
32GB RAM
Is there any way to revert to version 4.0.0 of AtlasOS? I tried doing it manually, but the wizard forces an update of the playbook to the latest version when I try to apply the older one.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Steps to reproduce
- Install the older version of AtlasOS (v4.0.0) — everything works fine, no micro-stuttering.
- Reinstall Windows and install the latest version of AtlasOS using the current wizard and playbook.
- Apply all recommended post-install steps (BIOS update, chipset drivers, disable power saving, CPU idle settings, etc.).
- Launch a game like Counter-Strike 2.
- Observe micro-stuttering every few seconds, even though FPS stays high and stable.
Expected behavior
Smooth and stable gameplay with no micro-stutters, just like it was with AtlasOS v4.0.0.
Even under load (e.g. in CS2 matches), the system should remain responsive, without small lags or input delay, and with consistent frame pacing.
Actual behavior
After reinstalling with the latest AtlasOS version, the system shows frequent micro-stutters every few seconds during gameplay (especially in CS2), even though average FPS remains high.
The stutters feel like momentary hitches or input delay, which makes the experience noticeably worse compared to v4.0.0.
All recommended steps (BIOS, drivers, power settings, mitigations) were followed, but the issue persists.

Additional content
I attempted to manually revert to AtlasOS v4.0.0, but the wizard forced the playbook to update to the latest version.
Is there a way to safely use or install the older version (v4.0.0), which worked great for my system?
I'm happy to provide additional logs or testing if needed. Thank you for your support!
