Compatibility w.r.t. JavaScript WebSocket protocol #89

Hi,

I've been playing around a bit with trying to connect Rust programs to Automerge sync servers (namely, the public sync.automerge.org server).

The main branch seems to implement an older version of the sync protocol, while I see that pull request #67 seems to bring the codebase up to a newer version (possibly not the latest, though?). But while main has been getting updated pretty regularly, #67 has been stale for a long time.

Is anyone able to explain a bit about the status of things here? I get the impression that it's not as much of a priority to have the two implementations using compatible WebSocket protocols as I might naively think? Is there a different codebase I should be looking at?
