"No active editor to apply edits to" error when Agent try to edit a file

I use VS Code with Continue.dev extension.

When I ask the Agent to edit a file I get this error:

"No active editor to apply edits to"

It appears as a notification message in VS Code, when I click "Accept".

The models I use:

The Gemini model works (for example when I use it in the Chat mode), so the key is ok.
Also, create a new file works (I "Accept" the request to "Create file").

Searching that string "No active editor to apply edits to" in Google does not give me any result apart 2 pages in chinese, like is very uncommon error.

Appreciate you starting a discussion, @alex-piccione! I set up an agent with Gemini 2.0 Flash for Chat and Apply but was not able to reproduce this. Can you share more of the following?

1. Steps to reproduce
2. VS Code extension version
3. What is in your VS Code workspace
4. What files you have open

Hi @TyDunn ,

I think I find out when it happens.
I prefer to have the Continue Chat/Agent panel on a separate screen (another monitor).
To do so, I detached the Continue extension panel (using the "Open in a new window button") so it "lives" in a separate window.
Doing that causes the error, also if the new window is on the same monitor (see attached video).

Steps to reproduce:

1. open VS Code on an empty folder (no workspace)
2. create a README.md file
3. Ask Continue to edit it. It should work.
4. Use the "Open in a new window" button on the Continue extension panel" (top right)
5. In the new window ask again to edit the file. In the main window it appears the error.

OS: Windows x64
VS Code extension version: 1.2.2
