Just an idea: If the void takes a bit of time to "ingest" the props of the game, then you can use that to your advantage by driving the Void to the props. Much better, what if a single prop provokes that? The rocks? Then you can run closer to rocks to delay your enemy.

I love this idea, perhaps with a lore-alignment tweak: since we're saying that telling stories is what keeps the void at bay, perhaps it should be piles of books?
