Websearch does not work using only copilot-api localhost

When I ask claude to search the web using copilot-api and claude settings.json I get the following response which shows Web Search tool does not work. Claude says Web search does not work on local endpoints, is this true? is the only way to use websearch to pay for claude pro?

(Ignore claudes blatant lie of it working you can see 0 searches performed)

Unfortunately not I've just been trying to use other tools for websearch for now (Cline, manual google, etc) theres potential MCP workaround but I havent explored too much
