apt update fails on raspberry pi 5

this is a brand new install with image downloaded recently.
Last I saw, there was a thread in 2023 saying that this should have been fixed, and was a problem with how python interpreted architectures, aarch64 vs arm64.
this is very frustrating and makes me wonder if I am stuck on an old version of piaware?
piaware -v gives 10.2

I was getting the same on raspberry pi 4. Looked into it a little and here's what I've found.
TL;DR: It's just a notice, it doesn't stop anything from upgrading or working, but you can make it go away if you want.

• piaware is using "raspbian" armhf (32-bit) for all raspberry pis
• there are two raspbian repos mirrored by flightaware, one for armhf, defined in /etc/apt/sources.list, and one for both armhf and arm64 defined in /etc/apt/sources.d/raspi.list
• the one at sources.list doesn't seem to be needed at all, and that is the one that is causing the "Skipping acquire..." messages, you can comment out the deb ... line in sources.list and the messages go away armhf packages are still updated
• I'm not sure why it is checking for arm64 at all, because dpkg --print-architechture shows only armhf
• I can't be certain that some other package didn't add it, I have rb24 and adsb exchange feeders installed on the same pi
