get pi touchscreen working in console mode

It would be nice to have the user interface run in place of getty on the primary console window, rather than under the X window interface.

From the intitial brewcop.py commit:

Aside: although urwid can also work with the raw linux console,
pi touchscreen "clicks" were ignored when GDM is not installed,
and did not seem to be able to select anything with GDM installed.

The user interface doesn't currently take input, except for 'q' on the keyboard to quit, so this is no longer a problem and we do just run with the text console. However let's leave this open since it might be nice to have buttons for some things. Shutdown for example.

I think gpm(8) was meant in the description rather than GDM (gnome display manager?)

With gpm installed, the touchscreen can be used to highlight text on the linux console device, and in brewcop, the urwid unhandled_event callback is called when the touchscreen is touched, so that is promising.
