Git for Windows : bash.exe not found

I try to start Git Bash (Git for Windows) on a DOS shell but get the error message:

>C:\APPS\Git\bin\bash.exe
Skipping command-line '"C:\APPS\Git\bin\..\usr\bin\bash.exe"'
('C:\APPS\Git\bin\..\usr\bin\bash.exe' not found)

The search path "..\usr\bin" is wrong, how to fix it?

I tried:
I edit the PATH variable under "User variables".
I do not have the admin right, so I cannot edit the system environment variables.
I click "New" and paste the Git for Windows installation paths:

C:\APPS\Git
C:\APPS\Git\bin

I click "OK" on all windows to save the changes.
I restart the DOS command prompt.

The search path "..\usr\bin" is wrong, how to fix it?

It's correct, though. bash.exe should be in <GIT_ROOT>\usr\bin.
