Putting javascript in HTML is not very railsy, can you toss this in a controller?

I am attempting to fix #177 . I do not have experience with Ruby, and... yeah this is a vibe-coded change. I couldn't test it as I couldn't login and have a project in localhost, but hopefully it works, im not sure? Please could you either test it yourself or tell me how to test it myself. Thank you
