Why does cyberduck say I tried connecting 530 times?

I am trying to connect to a server and after entering the correct username and password an error message pops up saying I've tried connecting 530 time even on my first try. Anyone familiar with this issue know what needs to be done to resolve it?

530 is the error response code from the FTP protocol and not the actual number of failed login attempts.
