Discoverability of proposals and other campaigns #25

I think it would be nice if, when on a page, the plugin icon indicated in some way if either:

  • a) a proposal (not yet accepted) in a union I belong to would affect this page
  • b) a union I don't belong to affects this page

If so, clicking on the extension icon would bring up a link to that discussion or union.

That would be very nice discovery mechanism for proposals and for other unions.

We would in that case need the browser to keep a lot more information - not just the current policy file of unions I belong to, but all policy files, and additionally all proposals I belong to. But this could actually be an opportunity to increase privacy. If every user downloads the same data, independent of what unions they belong to, and only differentiates between them locally, that makes it impossible (via this route at least) to tell what unions they belong to. (This is similar to the idea of browsers downloading all possible adds on a website, and only displaying targeted ones via local decisions, that is often proposed, and which Brave I think implements.)

Note that this would also make the blocking have to do more work (though see #26).
