Force space after closing emph tag

Often when the emph tags are used the closing tag runs into the following word.

Would you, please, add to the xsl to force as white space after </emph>. If this in fact sometimes produces two whitespaces that, of course, does not affect display.

This is tricky: there are cases such as 08pylon_schubert_prep.xml, line 87, where post scriptum is supposed to be in italics, but is followed by quotation marks (and no whitespace). I think I need to figure out why the XSLT isn't respecting the whitespaces that are there in the original xml.
