No, this did not work. This problem was not solved even when I upgraded to 7.4.0b0.

This is basically jupyterlab/jupyterlab#16326. See comments in there on why it is hard to fix. There are two draft PRs tackling some of it, but nothing decisive. Switching windowing mode to defer or to Firefox should help.

Exact same behavior across all versions of JN 7.x in my case - it gets much worse when error (raised Exception) is present in a notebook.

In 7.4 randomness of movement is somewhat worse, plus newly even adding cells cause random order execution.

@MichalRIcar if you could provide more details (browser, example notebook, and ideally a recording) this would be highly appreciated as it would help to solve the issue.
