For your key maps to work, you just need to have one of the key mapper keyboards set as your current input method. It's generally easier to give up gboard and use the key mapper gui keyboard but there are other ways. There's an option in the key mapper settings to automatically change the keyboard for you in various situations to help you keep using gboard. |

Can you briefly explain to me how the virtual keyboard key maps actually work in practice? What I mean is, in order to utilize this feature at all, do you have to give up using Gboard entirely throughout your workflow, or do you just add your keyboard into the system and then switch over to involve the action and switch back? I'm just having brain fog on how to take advantage of this feature and wondering why you can't trap for the keys using any keyboard.
