Can't authenticate in Rust Codex CLI

Thought I'd give the rust CLI a go as it's meant to have features the regular CLI doesn't.
Does it currently only support OPENAI_API_KEY as a method of authentication or is it possible to login with a Pro account?

to be clear codex login doesn't work with Rust CLI, it just opens a codex session and sends a message with text login
