Speed Differences in Indexing Across OpenGrok Versions

Currently my OpenGrok version is 1.7.19. On this version, small, medium, and even large projects index in a respectable amount of time. Extra large projects (300M LOC+) take excruciatingly long, and this is especially harmful when using opengrok-sync, as a job running this command would be insanely fast without the extra large repos, meaning the other projects could be updated more often (maybe even multiple times a day) without the xl projects.

To avoid some sort of separation of jobs between the projects of different sizes, I was wondering if an upgrade to a later version would add any noticeable speed differences from its current state (1.7.19). I know it is very time + resource intensive for these mammoth projects, but any improvements would help.
