We need to do some housecleaning on the build scripts #7622
Description
We will be doing some clean up on the build scripts to separate root usage cleanly into sudo (and not install if not necessary) and try to do a little bit more standardization which should also help our automation.
We haven't done this in a while but as the scripts grow we occasionally need to make sure they are aligned with our templates, update to match more current versions of RHEL and UBI, and I have this dream of enabling more of them to run on other operating systems (which I might welcome testers for when I get there). Most of this stuff is generic build that we've wrapped with what is convenient but should run more broadly, and thus open up some of these apps to other OS users.
Let us know if I break things in the process, I'm an imperfect creature but will try my best to be sane and get some solid reviews. ;)
