Project Description

Data publication
The Norwegian GBIF node is hosted by the University of Oslo, the Natural History Museum, and organized as a consortium between UiO, NTNU, UiB, UiT, NBIC (Artsdatabanken), and NINA. We operate a data publishing platform for biodiversity datasets from Norwegian institutions and researchers, currently publishing more than 400 datasets from 38 Norwegian institutions. Data published are integrated into a global research data portal (GBIF.org) and to the Norwegian Species Map (Artskart). Artskart is used as a mandatory data source for national environmental decisions including assessment of environmental impact, threatened species, invasive species, and more.

Data reuse and data citation
GBIF is aimed at providing anyone, anywhere, open access to data about all types of life on Earth. All data in GBIF are made available as findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability
(FAIR) open data and the national GBIF nodes actively support the reuse of data available on the platform.
