changed collect_samples() to write_samples("simple_sample.txt")
write_samples calls collect_samples() inside of it, and it doesn't modify read_x/y/z after calling that function so it should function the same as running collect_samples() alone except it also saves the data, as was in the todo list at the bottom of the file
