@lrytz now #878 has been merged, the required-checks setting for the main branch need to be adjusted — it's requiring checks that no longer exist in exactly the same form. I don't have the needed admin-level accces to change it myself

another possibility would be to just remove the checks requirements, on the assumption that whoever we trust to have merge powers in this repo, we also trust to have good judgment about when or whether to merge even if CI is failing. there's only a few of us, I think it's fine, so that's what I suggest, actually.
