This is the fix I'm looking for!

When using Rancher with the OpenStack Cloud provider -- in order to create volumes, load balancers etcetera the configuration now only supports username and password. However.. If, and when application credentials are to be used (these are essentially API tokens) it is not currently possible.

In the cloud-provider https://github.com/kubernetes/cloud-provider-openstack/ it seems to be implemented.
