Adding webpack-dev-middleware would provide the opportunity for several nice feature adds:

the "overlay" functionality, where compile errors appear in-browser on refresh
the opportunity to add HMR if/when needed

Running into some nasty issues at the moment, but hopefully we'll get them worked out soon!
